DIMAPUR — Can Youth, in collaboration with the Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre (RARC), Dimapur, organised a free medical camp on Saturday at Namgalong Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, with the theme ‘health and wellness’ as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2.0.
The camp included mental health awareness, creating awareness about the importance of millet for good health, and the distribution of free ayurvedic medicine.
On the occasion, Dr. Deepak Rahangdale Yograj from RARC spoke on mental health and wellness.
He stated that there are four pillars of health: physical health, mental health, social health, and spiritual health. We naturally take quick action when we are sick, but we neglect our mental health, which is the most important pillar of health, he said.
Claiming that physical ailment and mental health are co-related, he said that people tend to stress only on the physical ailment, but they are not aware of the fact that all physical diseases surge because of their mental health; thus, he urged them to stress on their mental health as well.
Later, commemorating the International Year of Millets (IYOM) 2023, Dr. Neetu S Mohan emphasised the importance of millets. She mentioned that millet is beneficial to our bodies because it contains more calcium, vitamins, and minerals.
She added that it is advised to use less ayurvedic medicine when dealing with allergies because “side effects may occur if ayurvedic medicine is used excessively.”
According to a press release by Can Youth, over 100 people benefited from the medical camp.
The RARC team, Can Youth staff, MSW interns from NEISSR, and Pearl Adolescent Club also attended the medical camp. The programme was chaired by Nuyielu Nyekha, project lead, Can Youth.
