Sumi Hoho observed ‘Sümi Patriots Day’ at Satakha town.
DIMAPUR — Sumi Hoho observed ‘Sümi Patriots Day’ on August 4 by paying tribute to late General Kaito Sukhai at Kughato Sukhai and General Kaito Sukhai Memorial Statues in Satakha town.
The guest speaker, Dr. Hokishe Yepthomi, who is also the former president of Sümi Hoho, spoke about the Sümis’ involvement in the Naga freedom struggle and also highlighted the historical significance of their contribution. He expressed optimism that the aspirations of the Naga people would eventually be realised, stated an update from Sumi Hoho.
Speeches were also delivered by Nikheto Jimomi, president of the Sümi Hoho; Kashito Yepthomi, president of the Sümi Kükami Hoho; Viholi Zhimomi, general secretary of Sümi Totimi Hoho; and Ngukato Aye, president of the Sümi Kiphimi Küqhakulu. Tsavipelimi and Elli Zhimomi presented songs on the occasion.
The invocation and benediction prayers were offered by Rev. Honito Chophi, pastor of Union Baptist Church, Satakha, and Anato Chishi, pastor of Satakha Town Baptist Church, respectively.
It stated that Rev. Hukugha Zhimomi, senior pastor of Satakha Town Baptist Church, also prayed for the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of Naga’s freedom struggle.
The programme was chaired by Zhevihe Sumi, vice president of Sümi Hoho. The event saw the participation of leaders from various Sümi frontal organisations as well as members of the public.
