DIMAPUR — Postal department has introduced ‘DAK Ghar Niryat Kendra’ (DNK), an export facilitation centre to facilitate the small and medium business exporters, in various districts of Nagaland.
Addressing media persons during a press conference in Dimapur on Friday, the Postmaster General of NE II Region, Dimapur, Som Kamei, stated that DNK centres provide parcel packaging facilities.
He informed that parcel packaging machines along with packing materials are currently available in Kohima and Dimapur.
He said that there is no limit to the quantity to be exported. He, however, informed that the consignment should not exceed 35 kg per parcel.
He stated that with the help of DNK software, customers can file postal bills of exports online through the web link created for the purpose and get the export shipments booked at designated DNK or post offices.
He updated that DNK centres in Nagaland are available at Kohima head post office, Dimapur MDG, Phek SO, Mokokchung MDG and Jalukie SO.
He shared that a person who wishes to export products abroad must have a valid Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) and Import-Export Code (IEC), which could be applied from the website of the Director General of Foreign Trade for a fee of INR 500.
He informed that a person having GSTIN and IEC could log into the DNK website (https://dnk.cept.gov.in/customers.web/) and register oneself. He added that booking would be permitted only after the completion of the KYC documents upload.
He shared that after a booking is completed, the article along with a printout copy of the article being booked would be presented to the DNK post office for verification and dispatched.
About the benefits of DNK, he shared that there would be no middleman as everything would be done online to sell the products directly to customers. It would also minimise the issue of customs as any issue with the booking would be rectified before sending the items.
DNK centres will close the mailbags directly to the foreign post office in Kolkata thereby minimising the transit time. He also stated that a pick-up facility would be provided based on the volume of transactions.
Kamei further stated DNK centres would also be opened in other district headquarters based on the demand.
