Nagaland marching ahead with rest of India, says Governor
Mokokchung — Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Wednesday said that issues had impeded peace and development in the past but the state’s economy has improved over the last couple of years with the return of peace to the land.
“Nagaland today is marching ahead with the rest of the country and our contribution in the field of arts, particularly music is second to none,” he said while citing the recent achievement of The Nagaland Chamber Choir at the recent 12th World Choir Games in South Korea, where it won two gold medals for the country.
He said this during the Tsüngremong celebration at Mangmetong village. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, other legislators and officials.

Mokokchung has produced so many notable personalities and this stands as a testament to the fact that Aos are hardworking, enterprising and intelligent people, he told the gathering.
While maintaining that the Tsüngremong festival signifies thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest, he urged the people to give thanks to the almighty for the blessing and foster the spirit of unity and peace.
“Let us keep the essence of this festival alive and spread love and oneness among us,” he told the gathering.
“It is imperative to inculcate the rich heritage and values that are witnessed and practised during the festival and it should be preserved and passed down to our generations,” he said.
Y Patton, along with Imkong L Imchen, the Advisor of IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, and Thsuvise Phoji, the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, also delivered speeches at the event. The event showcased Ao Naga’s rich cultural heritage through traditional dance and music.
