Session on financial and cyber safety held in Kohima
Kohima — A session on financial and cyber safety for small and home-based businesses was jointly organised by Modern Myriad Branding Cyber School and LifeConnect Nagaland in Kohima on Saturday.
During the session, Inakali V Chishi, an entrepreneur from Dimapur, spoke about the significance of financial management and emphasised on effective earning, spending, and saving practices. Highlighting on the dignity of labour, she emphasised on the potential of earning through diverse jobs to meet one’s needs.
Chishi, who is involved in the floristry business, has advised to distinguish between essential and non-essential expenses and stressed on the importance of creating a saving plan.
Discussing on cyber safety, Limasenla Moa, a master trainer for digital marketing at Modern Myriad Branding Pvt. Ltd., has spoke on issues such as phishing, identity theft, cyber bullying and social media fraud. She explained how phishing targets and tricks recipients into providing sensitive information or downloading malicious software.
Moa also shed light on cyber bullying, a harmful practice prevalent among teenagers, and social media frauds, which involve the use of fake accounts for harmful activities.
To prevent cybercrime, she recommended updating operating systems, using updated antivirus software, creating strong passwords and accessing only legitimate websites. She also advised keeping a check on bank statements to avoid fraudulent activities and promptly reporting cybercrime incidents to the police and relevant authorities.
Imtisangla Jamir, project lead of Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), informed the participants about the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI), a scheme initiated last year, offering a 30% interest subsidy on prompt loan payments. She explained that loans ranging from different amounts depending on their projects are available under the scheme for start-ups, existing entrepreneurs, farmers, food processing units, SHG, JLG, FPO etc. and for individuals aged 18 to 65 years, who meet certain criteria.

Charemnaro Pongener, coordinator of LifeConnect, shared how they empower marginalised women spiritually, socially, economically, and emotionally.
LifeConnect, which is a Christian-based organisation, extends support to economically disadvantaged women regardless of race, color, or religion.
“Addressing the issue of alcoholism among husbands of these women, LifeConnect initiated an alcoholic anonymous programme while providing free tuition to their children,” Pongener said.
She informed that they have recently procured an envelope-making machine in order to provide employment to marginalised women. She added that LifeConnect has also initiated projects like ‘Happy Kitchen,’ ‘Happy Flow,’ and ‘The Giving Pantry’ among others.
The welcome address was delivered by Imtisenla Jamir, project director of Modern Myriad Branding Cyber School, while an invocation prayer was said by Kevi, field mobiliser of LifeConnect and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chulu Rhi, assistant field supervisor of LifeConnect.
