Don’t forget sacrifices of Kargil War heroes, Nagaland Governor tells citizens
KOHIMA— Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Wednesday recalled the valour and sacrifices of the Kargil War heroes, highlighting their unwavering dedication towards safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland.
Addressing the gathering during the commemoration of 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas organised by the Assam Rifles at Raj Bhavan in Kohima, the governor urged the people not to forget the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, whose heroic deeds continue to inspire the youth of the nation.
The occasion marks the triumph of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistani Forces in the Kargil war on July 26, 1999.
Ganesan urged the jawans and youths of the country to internalise the burning aspiration to serve the nation, following the footsteps of the valiant Kargil War heroes.
He also paid homage to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice made by the Indial soldiers with a special mention of the gallant Nagas who fought in the Kargil War.
He also gave away certificates of honour to the Kargil War veterans during the occasion as a token of gratitude for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice.
Also speaking at the event, Maj Gen Lakhera, Inspector General, Assam Rifles North, expressed gratitude to the governor for recognising the sacrifice of the Kargil War heroes.
He also recalled the brave acts of Captain N Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous), and Honorary Captain Imliakum Ao, MVC.
The event was attended by more than 250 people, including Kargil War veterans from the 1st and 2nd Naga Regiments, serving and ex-servicemen of the army, parents of Capt N Kenguruse MVC, students, NCC cadets, and civil dignitaries.
