MDTA felicitates district taekwondo team for state tournament show
DIMAPUR— The Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA) felicitated the district’s under-14 taekwondo team on Wednesday for their successful participation in the recent state level tournament in Kohima.
A 12-member contingent, including 10 players and two support staff, represented Mokokchung at the recently held tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium. Two players – Sentimmoa Ozukum and Temsumongla Longkumer from Ladybird School – won bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
At a felicitation programme, the medalists were awarded cash prizes, medals, and certificates by MDTA president Supongwati Jamir. Other participants were given certificates. Also, the MDTA presented taekwondo uniforms to all.
Nukshi I. Ozukum, general secretary of MDTA, congratulating the team for their successful participation in the state level tournament, stated that taekwondo is a highly disciplined sport with immense potential for those dedicated individuals who excel in it. He further assured that the association would go the extra mile in promoting the players at various tournaments and therefore encouraged them to continue giving their best efforts in the days ahead.
Bendang, an executive member of MDTA, on the occasion appreciated the association members, and particularly the team manager, the coach, and the participants, for bringing laurels to the district. He said that despite constraints in training duration, the participants gave their best and brought a good name to the district, which would serve as an inspiration and motivate others in the days to come.
After the felicitation programme, the MDTA officials visited the ongoing boxing camp at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium in Mokokchung and interacted with officials of the Boxing Association Mokokchung.
