DIMAPUR — The Nagabazar Panchayat Kohima (NPK), Ward 4, has expressed shock and anguish over the report that went viral on social media claiming that the head teacher of GMS Nagabazar has been absent for the past two and a half years.

While appreciating the initiative of the MLA from 9th Kohima Town A/C for visiting government schools, it clarified that the NPK Ward 4, school management committee, Naga Youth Organisation (SMC, NYO), and G.B.’s of Nagabazar determined the issue regarding the said head teacher to be a case of misinformation.

According to a press statement issued by the NPK Ward 4, the head teacher was attached to the department for the preparation of the Nagaland government primary teachers seniority list vide order dated October 25, 2021, and since then, he has been unable to attend classes regularly due to the said assignment but continues to actively perform his duties as head teacher.

It further stated that the SMC had held a meeting on July 27, 2022, wherein an assistant head teacher was appointed to take charge during the attachment period, and added that the allegations purported by some staff are purely malicious, intending to tarnish the head teacher’s image, which is regrettable.

Over the years, it said, the school has performed well academically, securing excellent results in competitive examinations among government schools in Nagaland.

The SMC has also requested that journalists and news channels ascertain the facts before broadcasting on media platforms in order to avoid similar situations in the future.
