Nagaland: MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero urges preservation of mother tongue
PFÜTSERO — Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA of the 16th Pfutsero AC, on Saturday emphasised the need to prioritise and have an aptitude for one’s mother tongue. He was addressing the Metshu Mehpö (General Conference) of the Kuzhami Lethu Lyche (Kuzhami Literature Board) as a guest speaker at TT Hall, Pfütsero, Phek.
Highlighting the unique history of the Kuzhami people, he urged scholars, teachers, leaders, parents, and all involved to instil in their children the importance of their mother tongue and the power of literature. He acknowledged the significant influence that teachers have on students, urging them to diligently fulfil their positions as role models, mentors, and educators in the children’s upbringing.
Dr. Mero further recognised the work and role played by the KLL and encouraged them to continue their efforts. He underscored the importance of having and appreciating one’s own literature, preserving one’s culture, and wished KLL success in their future endeavours.
Tiarenla J. Kire, SDEO Pfutsero and Medozü Mero, President of Kuzhalhu Zawe also spoke on the occasion. The programme was chaired by Dr. Ditsolo Kapfo, Chairman, KLL. Keduwepe Mero, Pastor of CBC, Pfütsero, offered the invocation prayer while the vote of thanks was delivered by Kewekote Akami, General Secretary, KLL.
