36th Kings Cup: Six Naga girls in Indian sepaktakraw squad
DIMAPUR— Six Naga girls are taking part in the World Sepaktakraw Championship – The 36th Kings Cup – at Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, as members of the Indian team under chief coach Hemraj. The championship which commenced on July 8 will conclude on July 16, an update stated.
Of the selected Naga girls – Sezovelu Dozo, Rukuvinu Tsukru, Menenu Tsukru, Seyiekhrieno Tepa, Jwensinle Kesen and Akumtila Ao – four are from the State Sports Academy, Dimapur, and two from SSB Assam.
The Kings Cup Sepaktakraw World Championship is considered to be the most prestigious tournament in sepaktakraw discipline as most of the top national teams compete in this annual event. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Sports Authority of India have also sanctioned a 45-day training camp for the Indian team at the Takraw Foundation of Thailand, Bangkok, from July 17 to August 30, for the preparation of the up-coming 19th Asian Games 2023 to be held in China.
