Naga political issue surpasses all other arrangements, say Eastern Naga National Workers’ Union

DIMAPUR — Against the backdrop of the proposed ‘Naga Frontier Territory’ for the people of eastern Nagaland, the Eastern Naga National Workers’ Union (ENNWU) of the NSCN/GPRN has affirmed that in pursuance of any developmental programmes and activities, one cannot infringe or jeopardise the Naga political issue, because the Naga issue has “surpassed and survived all the past administrative arrangement from both India and Myanmar till this day.”

Noting that the hue and cry of the Nagas from eastern Nagaland areas with regard to the imbalance in development activities since the inception of statehood has gained a momentum in the recent years, ENNWU in a press release stated that this is with the sole motive for developmental purposes and economic uplift of the eastern areas.

“Therefore, this economic imparities and lack of infrastructural development in the region cannot be left unattended,” it stated.

The union went on to state that after the ‘Framework Agreement’ witnessed by the world on August 3, 2015, the ENNWU and Nagas are awaiting final solution to the long-drawn Indo-Naga political issues on the basis of a long-lasting, honourable, acceptable and inclusive settlement.
