KOHIMA— With an objective to keep the students and staff healthy and sensitise on healthy living, Government Middle School (GMS) at Bayavü in Kohima conducted a medical camp at the school premises on Friday.
A press release from the school authority informed that the camp was organised in collaboration with Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü, Kohima.
On the occasion, Dr. Noksangrenla Jamir, medical officer (Ayush), delivered a talk to the school children about diarrhoea and its prevention and other health and hygiene practices.
For adolescence girls and as part of the Beti Bacho Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme, the officer took a special session and sensitised about menstruation cycle, menstrual myth, common symptoms during period, how to maintain hygiene and food to eat during menstruation.
It was followed with health check-up on students and teachers. Mid-day meal and medicines, ORS sachets and vitamins were distributed to the participants.
About 60 students were also immunised on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, head teacher of GMS Bayavü, in a press release, has acknowledged Dr. Noksangrenla Jamir and staff of Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü, for coming forward in rendering their services and support towards the school. He expressed hope that the collaboration and partnership would promote a healthy living in school and the society.
