DIMAPUR — Advisor of Prison, Printing and Stationary, Kropol Vitsu, has lauded the Government High School (GHS), Sakhabama, for producing good results in the NBSE HSLC examination since 2019 despite insufficient teachers including subject teachers and described the school as a role model for all the schools.

Speaking at the felicitation programme of eight successful HSLC students at the school premises on June 7, Vitsu assured to look into the grievances of the school including shortage of teachers, classrooms, hostel and other basic needs to enable the school produce more good results. He lauded the school headmaster for his sacrifices financially and in kind for the betterment of the school and students. He also applauded the extra efforts of the teaching staff, stated an update from the school.

He pointed out that there are many government schools which have excess teachers with 0% pass result. He stated that GHS Sakhabama, which falls under his constituency, has outshined other schools.

In his brief report, the school headmaster, Rukuvito Kikhi, highlighted that since 2019 the school has been functioning with just 14 teachers against the department norms of 24 teachers. He added that the department had recently deployed one teacher each for Mathematics and Science bringing the total number of teachers to 16.

Kikhi also informed that the village community had sponsored one teacher for three years, while the Sakhabama Church had also sponsored one teacher. He lamented that several appeals to the department for deployment of adequate teachers was turned a deaf ear to their needs.

Certificate and cash amount were handed over to the successful candidates by the special guest.
