DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, launched the ‘First 1000 Days’ programme in Peren district during a programme held in his office’s conference hall on June 9.
Speaking at the launch event, Kumar requested the Medical department, other allied departments and stakeholders to spread more awareness on the importance of child health and ante-natal care, complete nutrition of early childhood development and the importance of vaccination in children.
He further urged the public not to be carried away by superstitious beliefs.
An update from CMO’s office stated that Dr. Limatulla Ao, CMO of Peren, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Supongmenla Walling, DPO RMNCHA+N, made a powerpoint presentation on the importance of ‘First 1000 Days,’ critical interventions in the 1000 days; status of ante-natal care coverage (ANC) in the state, government schemes for the first 1000 days and importance of ante-natal care.
Dr. Imtiakum, SMO of Jalukie CHC, spoke on quality ANC delivery at the hospital, while Dr. Dennis H Chingpen, spoke on PMSMA and point of care testing in ANC and Dr. Chapkelilakbo Dailam gave an overview on the importance of vaccination in children.
I Tsungrosonla, DWO of Peren, explained the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vantana Yojna (PMMVY) scheme and nutritional support during the first 1000 days with a technical explanation.
Temsumenla Kipgen, BPM, Ahthibung block, chaired the programme and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lanuakum, deputy CMO.
