KOHIMA: A week-long All India Football Federation (AIFF) D’ license course concluded at Thenyizumi village under Phek district on June 3.
A total of 22 participants including one female from different districts – Dimapur, Peren, Kohima, Tuensang and Phek – took part in the training course with N William Koso, AIFF D coach educator and AFC A license coach as the course instructor.
During the weeklong camp, the coaches underwent two practical exams and one theory exam as part of their course assessment. The results of the course will be announced by AIFF at a later date.
In the valedictory programme held on June 3, instructor N William Koso hoped the coaches will share and impart their knowledge to the younger generation whatever they have learn during the coaching camp.
He said a good sportsperson becomes a role model in the society, and added that the coaches will not only nurture the young talent but also develop the society.
Koso appreciated CAGSA and the Thenyizumi village for the initiative and stated that it was a good sign that the village is trying to promote sports at the grassroot level. He hoped more talents can be nurtured at the village level with the coaching camp for the coaches.
He also asked the young coaches to keep in touch to share the ideas, their plan and how to go about in the coaching career.
President of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) Sekho Dawhuo said the course’s key element was to train the coaches so that they can impart their knowledge about football at the grassroot level in the remotest areas.
While acknowledging the instructor Koso who is the only AFC A license coach in Nagaland for rendering his time and knowledge to the coaches, he exuded hope that the coaches can excel in their career and bring out talented players to represent the state and the country one day.
Changsang (35 years), the oldest coach from Tuensang, who spoke on behalf of the trainees said he had learnt a lot from the weeklong camp and hope to share his knowledge to the younger generation.
While encouraging the coaches, he said it was not about passing or failing the course exam but the passion and dedication for the love for the game, which was more important.
The Course was organised by Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) under the guidance of Football Association Phek District (FAPD).
