Lotha Hoho launches its constitution

WOKHA — The Lotha Hoho (LH), on June 3, launched its constitution during a programme held at Lotha Hoho Ki in Wokha town. Earlier, the Lotha Hoho was following a set of basic guidelines, which was first published in the year 1990 and subsequently amended in 1999 till it constituted a drafting committee to review and amend the guidelines. Rev. Abemo Jungio, pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, said a dedication prayer in the presence of Lotha hoho members during the launch programme. The constitution was accepted by the public during the general meeting held on May 10 at Lotha Hoho Ki.

KDFRA conducts fitness test

KOHIMA — The Kohima District Football Referees Association (KDFRA) successfully conducted a two-day recruitment drive-cum-refresher and fitness test at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on June 2 and 3. Kevingutuo Sekhose, head of referees, spoke on the occasion as the guest speaker. The 2nd day pprogramme was graced by Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, president of Kohima District Football Association. Altogether, 45 referees attended the programme.

Peren and Longleng organise social work

DIMAPUR — As part of monsoon preparedness, Peren and Longleng districts administration led by the respective deputy commissioners initiated a mass social work on Saturday. It stated that clogged drainages, culverts, and waterways to ensure free flow of water and jungle clearance were carried out involving the district administration, town councils and all heads of offices during the mass social work. A DIPR report informed that similar programmes were organised in villages. The objective of the mass social work was to prevent disaster in the district.

Social work in Kohima on June 5

DIMAPUR — Commemorating World Environment Day, Kohima district administration along with all the 19 wards will organise a mass social work on June 5 beginning from 6 am. A DIPR report stated that the inspector of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) would inspect each ward as part of its annual cleanliness competition. All the wards, sectors and colonies have been requested to organise cleanliness drive within their respective jurisdiction.

DMC continues with RRR drive

DIMAPUR —  Continuing with its RRR (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) campaign, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) organised a programme to received used materials on Saturday. It may be mentioned here that the first collection drive was held on May 27. An update from DMC informed that the first sets of collected items were freely distributed to people in need at Naga Shopping Arcade on May 31. The campaign is being assisted by Team Better Dimapur and assisted the DMC staff. The results of the best RRR centre would be declared on June 5 at DDSC Stadium.

Zapami organises plantation drive

KOHIMA — Zapami village under Phek district undertook a plantation day on June 2. The programme was organized as part of its calendar basing on its theme ‘Year of Horticulture Zone 2023.’ It was informed that a total of 1500 persimmon saplings were planted in the total area of 10 hectares. An update from the village stated that 600 persons have participated in the prorgammme.

WSYF, WSH condole demise

DIMAPUR — Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) and Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) have condoled the demise Zheshito Swu, GB of Kiyevi village and a former president of Western Sumi Hoho. In a separate statements, WSYF and WSH described Zheshito as a dynamic leader, who has a genuine love for his people. It stated that his services rendered to the people in different capacities would be remembered. It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.

NNC (PB) elects new team

DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (Parent Body), during its general meeting held on June 2, unanimously elected the new team of officer bearers for a term of five years. The new team would be led by Yilow Humtsoe as president, Zhiongba Yimkhiung as vice president, V Nagi as general secretary. It has also elected TA Rengma, Kiheto Zhimomi, Mhonyamo Kikon, and Thranimba Yimkhiung as joint secretaries.

WENN organises financial programme

DIMAPUR — The Women Entrepreneurs Network Nagaland (WENN), in collaboration with SBI, conducted a workshop on financial literacy programme on May 30 at the conference hall of SBI regional in Dimapur. Aligning with WENN’s 2023 theme ‘Financial literacy,’ SBI informed that similar programmes would be organised in eight districts across Nagaland in 2023. WENN is a network of women entrepreneurs from Nagaland focusing on entrepreneurial information sharing, training support and business solutions.

DAN organises training in Sumi village

DIMAPUR — Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) under Morung Project conducted a three-day skill development training programme on ‘basket making’ for children between 15-18 years from June 1 to the 3rd in Sumi village under Phek district. An update from DAN stated that its coordinator, Tshekulhi Aku Thopi, spoke on the importance of skill development to find employment in this era. He further congratulated the trainees on completion of the training and encouraged them to utilise the knowledge gained for generating income. Kewale Wozah was the resource person of the three days training programme.
