Former candidate from the 6-Tening Assembly Constituency, Dr. Tumda Newme, awarded monetary assistance to 45 students including 10 meritorious HSLC candidates from the Zeme, Liangmai and Kuki communities besides 15 students from economically backward families
DIMAPUR — Upholding his commitment made to the public during the last state general elections, former candidate from the 6-Tening Assembly Constituency, Dr. Tumda Newme, awarded monetary assistance to 45 students including 10 meritorious NBSE HSLC candidates from the Zeme, Liangmai and Kuki communities besides 15 students from economically backward families.
Dr. Tumda, who loss in election, gave away the monetary assistances to the deserving candidate during a programme held on June 2 in Jalukie town.
The programme was chaired by Lalmingthang, general secretary of KSON, while Ramkiudinbo, pastor of Liangmai Baptist Church, New Jalukie A Block, invoked God’s blessings and Meyawanpang, DEO of Peren, exhorted the students and also thanked Dr. Tumda Newme for his noble work.
An update stated that Apeuna Iheilung, president of ZMON, shared her joy and delight on such initiative, which was one of the first of its kind in Peren district.

Recognising his noble initiative and vision in encouraging human resource development, the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has presented a citation to Dr. Newme.
The programme concluded with a prayer of blessings upon the meritorious students said by Rev. David Vaiphei, executive secretary of KBAN.
