POCSO court sentences man to 3 years rigorous imprisonment

DIMAPUR — The special Judge of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Kohima, Duvelu Vero, in an order dated May 25, 2023, sentenced one Dilwar Hussain to three years undergo rigorous imprisonment, for sexual assault on a minor girl.
Special Public Prosecutor in-charge of the case in an update informed that the accused Dilwar Hussain was earlier arrested in connection with alleged sexual assault on a minor girl on June 3, 2021 at Naga Hospital Colony, Kohima, while the victim was at home with her grandfather.
The special judge in her judgment stated that the prosecution has proved all the charges U/S 354-A/IPC R/W Section 8 POCSO against the accused Dilwar Hussain beyond all reasonable doubt.
Hussain was sentenced to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of INR 500 under Section 354 A/1PC. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo another one month imprisonment.

The accused was also sentenced to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of INR 1000 under Section 8 POCSO Act.
“In default of the payment of the fine, he shall undergo another one month imprisonment. Both the sentences shall run concurrently in the District Jail Kohima,” it stated.
