NSRLM to train 1.2 lakh SHG members on financial literacy

NSRLM to train 1.2 lakh SHG members on financial literacy
National Academy of RUDSETI (NAR) officials felicitating Imtimenla during the valedictory function of Training of Master Trainers on Financial Literacy (TMTFL) held at NAR, Bengaluru.

DIMAPUR — To bring a new revolution in providing financial literacy to 1.2 lakh SHG members, Nagaland State has now positioned master trainers in all the districts.

A team of 30 members from banks, RSETI faculty and Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) staff undertook a 6-day Training of Master Trainers on Financial Literacy (TMTFL) at National Academy of RUDSETI (NAR) Bengaluru.

The programme was held from May 15 to the 20th.

The TMTFL shall provide ToT to four Financial Literacy Community Resource Persons (FLCRPs) from each Block, while the total 296 FLCRPs shall be deployed in villages to train the SHG members in the next few months, NSRLM stated in an update.

The valedictory programme of the training was held on May 20 with Joint Secretary, Rural Development, and Mission Director, NSRLM, Imtimenla, as the chief guest.

The Mission Director, NSRLM, in her address said that the SRLM has taken the challenge to bring a new revolution in providing financial literacy by providing training to 1.2 lakhs house-holds (HHs) of SHGs.

Imtimenla said she was shocked to hear that present status of financial literacy in Nagaland State is 8% only.

She gratitude to the Ministry of Rural Development for sponsoring the training and also acknowledged the NAR for providing a suitable training slot to the team from Nagaland, during such a time of need.

She assured that the three pillars of financial literacy (FL) intervention viz. the RSETIs, the Financial Literacy Centers (FLCs/LDMs) and the SRLMs, will jointly take the FL intervention forward with all sincerity, as per the directive of GoI/RBI/MoRD in providing financial literacy to the SHG members.

Imtimenla also acknowledged the prominent resource persons from NAR and senior bankers for successful completion of the training.

The MD further thanked the Convenor, State Level Bankers Coordination (SLBC), Chairman of Nagaland Rural Bank (NRB) and the Managing Director, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB), for deputing senior officials to the training.
