DIMAPUR: The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has expressed concern over the transfer of assistant professors at Fazl Ali College and Mokokchung College of Teachers Education on attachment basis, saying that it will cause acute manpower shortage in the two institutions, which will be detrimental to the welfare of students.

It came just days after the Higher and Technical Education department issued an attachment order of six assistant professors from Fazl Ali College and Mokokchung College of Teachers Education to New Model College, Wakching, Mon, and New Model College, Mangkolemba, for a period of six months or till the NPSC conducts recruitment.

Citing possible negative impact the move could have, the OKM requested the concerned department to immediately revoke the transfer order in the interest of the people and the student community, failing which it said will be “compelled to take our own course of actions”.

It also stated that transferring of teachers will disrupt “higher education ecosystem” in the district, as most students in Mokokchung district study in the two premier government colleges.
