Nagaland government asked to place foothill road project on priority list
DIMAPUR: The stakeholders of foothill road have resolved to reiterate its appeal to the government of Nagaland to put the construction of the Trans-Nagaland Expressway (foothill road) on “priority list” in the current financial year.
It was resolved during a joint meeting of stakeholders comprising the Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC), PWD (Road and Bridges) officials, foothill contractor firms, and Dimapur-based tribal hohos, in Dimapur on Monday that the road project be constructed through the North Eastern Council (NEC) funding in accordance with the resolution adopted by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on September 22,2022 and later reaffirmed during the first session of the 14th NLA in March this year.
The house resolved that the divisional EE, PWD (R&B), divisional contractors, tribal bodies and members of NFHRCC would inspect the project from Niuland to Tizit at the earliest to ascertain the technical completion of the work and to recommend performance-based release of the remaining bills before the onset of the rainy season.
It further resolved to maintain the cohesiveness of the NFHRCC and protect its sanctity as a pressure group, as was unanimously approved by the respective apex tribal hohos in 2013. It added that undermining the authenticity of the committee by any individual or groups will not be tolerated and that appropriate correctional measures would be initiated against those resorting to such acts.
