FNR, NSCN (IM), WC-NNPG stand in solidarity with people displaced by Manipur violence
DIMAPUR — A team of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) members along with representatives from the NSCN (IM) and WC-NNPG visited the Kuki Baptist Association Mission Centre, Khaibung on Saturday to stand in solidarity with people displaced by the violence.
An update from the FNR stated that Naga political groups (NPGs) — NSCN (IM) and WC-NNPG — through the forum, contributed relief items in the form of rice and lentils (dal) to the victims of the violence.
The presidents of Kuki Inpi Nagaland; Kuki Students’ Organization, Nagaland; and Kuki Nute Kiloikhom (Kuki Mothers’ Association), Nagaland, spoke about the anguish experienced by the people during the brief programme held in the Chapel Hall of the Mission Centre on Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the FNR, Rev. Dr Wati Aier, Rev. Dr. Ellen Konyak Jamir and Dr. Visier Sanyü expressed solidarity and critical empathy to those displaced by the violence, said the update.
It may be mentioned that the ethnic violence that broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur earlier this month cost dozens of precious lives, burnt many church buildings and damaged hundreds of houses, rendering thousands of people homeless.
