Kohima, May 7 (EMN): Kiruphema General Council comprising Peducha, Kiruphema Basa and Kiruphema Bawe organised a thanksgiving programme in honour of the minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, at Peducha village council hall on May 6.

Speaking on the occasion, Kruse thanked the people of Kiruphema for their support in the recently held general election. She also expressed her gratitude to the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for his concern and constant support and to all NDPP party ranks and files.

She promised to do everything in her power to uplift the community and encouraged people to come together in unity to make progress. She also gave a brief overview of the objectives of the Women Resource and Horticulture departments, which focus on supporting women and the wider population in achieving self-sufficiency by improving their means of livelihood.

Kruse talked about the importance of bringing back the traditional weaving method by using modern machines for large-scale production. She also encouraged flower growers by telling them that there are plans to build marketing sheds along the Zubza highway. These sheds will make it easier for women farmers and flower growers from the western Angami region to do business. Kruse also let people know that there are flower seeds and vegetables available for those who want them.

Pfülhouzhüno Visienyü, the chairperson of Kiruphema Women Organisation (KWO), congratulated Kruse for creating history by being the first woman cabinet minister in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. She also stated that women of today have become as productive as their male counterparts in almost every area of life and are making significant contributions to society.

Congratulating Kruse, the chairmen of the three villages including Kiruphema Bawe Council, Kiruphema Basa Council and Peducha Village Council, expressed confidence that she would fulfil the much-needed change not only in Western Angami but the Nagas as a whole.

They also highlighted some urgent basic requirements for the area like good roads, health centres and educational tours for farmers. It was expressed that they hoped these needs would be met in due time.
