DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NSCN (Unification), under the leadership of Gen. (Retd.) M B Neokpao Konyak and N Kitovi Zhimomi, on Thursday, clarified that it has not signed any “merger agreement” with Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) led by Chairman S Kamson.

However, it said the alliance between the two is to “protect and safeguard” common Naga political, historical rights and identity.

“The alliance between GPRN/NSCN and ZUF was signed in New Delhi on October 28, 2019. The negotiations between GoI and WC-NNPG had traversed much depths and heights on all crucial matters and on the table was a workable, acceptable and honorable solution for all Nagas.

“ZUF too had closely followed the Indo-Naga talks and the political situation and environment favoured an alliance with GPRN/NSCN. As per the understanding, ZUF Chairman would be a part of Naga delegation on political negotiations to air the problems of Zeliangrong people living in Nagaland, Assam and Manipur,” read the statement.

Till date, it said the ZUF representatives enjoy the confidence and hospitality of WC-NNPG convenor and co-convenors.

“A very strong bond is maintained because Zeliangrong family is an integral part of Naga vision. The situation of 2019 is different from 2023 but the vision and goal of both GPRN/NSCN and ZUF is to secure Naga people’s history, political Identity and aspiration. Nagas are the masters of their own land and Zeliangrong Nagas strengthen this powerful truth,” it added.
