DIMAPUR — Guitar recital, quiz and essay writing competitions marked the state-level youth festival held at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on April 21.

A DIPR report stated that Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung districts won the first, second and third positions respectively in the quiz competition, while Keviseto Mekro from Kohima, Imolemla from Mokokchung and Atoli N Sumi from Kiphire were declared winners in essay writing competition and in guitar recital, Kohima won the first position followed with Phek and Tuensang in the second and third positions respectively.

Speaking at the inaugural function as the special guest, the advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Keoshu Yimkhiung, expressed his pleasure to be in the midst of young participants who had come from different districts to take part in the event. He expressed hope that the event would be a memorable and learning experience irrespective on the outcome of the competition stating that participating in such event was itself an achievement.

Keoshu added that those who take every step as a new challenge in a positive aspect with self-dedication and devotion are the ones who reach their destiny. He urged upon the congregation to support each other in every possible way to promote and take forward young generations to greater heights in the near future.

“We all must take responsibility and not an obligation to nurture our young and upcoming generations if we all want to see our society move forward,” Keoshu said.

The closing programme was attended by Anthony Ngullie, secretary of YRS, as the special guest. The secretary thanked the officers and participants from all the districts and hoped that there would be more participation in the future as the festival is a regular programme of the department. He added that the department would give platform in a much better way in the coming years.
