DIMAPUR — Kohima College celebrated its 56th social parting on April 15 at the college courtyard with Kegwayhun Tep, president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), as the guest speaker on the theme “Bon voyage-good wishes.”

In his speech, Tep advised the 360 outgoing students to be an asset of the society and not a liability.

“Youth has become a liability to our family, our community and society at large,” an update from the college has quoted him as stated.

According to Tep, intractable problem faced by most graduates from Nagaland was twofold—firstly the Nagas’ tendency to consider only government jobs and secondly, the non-transparency of job recruitment process in the government sector. He also cautioned against the risk of depression, frustration, suicidal tendencies etc.

He pointed out that problems of unemployability and mental instabilities could be overcome by fighting against prejudices and coming out of their comfort zones. He also advised the youth to know their worth as they go forth into uncertain future. He concluded by advising the students to endeavour and make their lives meaningful and respectable in society.

The college’s principal, Dr. M Libanthung Ngullie, delivered short speech, while an invocation prayer was said by the assistant professor, Dr. Ketoukhrieü.

The principal also released the college annual magazine 2022-2023 and concluded with distribution of prizes for the various competitions of the college.
