DIMAPUR — The launching and orientation event of YouthNet’s Incubation Centre Cohort 2 was held at YouthNet Incubation Centre, YouthNet Dimapur office, on April 15.
The Cohort consists of 33 startups and entrepreneurs from various sectors ranging from food processing, handloom and handicrafts, tourism, agri, logistics and others, YouthNet informed in an update.
The event was attended among others by Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu; Director of Industries & Commerce, A Temjen Jamir, and Director, Alliance for Commercialisation and Innovation Research (ACIR), Erik Azulay.
Jakhalu in her address shared on the importance and reality of an entrepreneur’s journey and highlighted the need to scale an entrepreneur’s need to get compliances right from the beginning.
She also congratulated the Startup Nagaland team’s effort in curating the entrepreneurs’ journey thus far.
Director of Industries & Commerce spoke on the Startup Nagaland Policy and the various benefits and opportunities that will help startups thrive.
Jamir also highlighted on the progress made through the efforts of the department. The Department of Industries & Commerce, through the Startup Nagaland Policy, dedicated a grant of INR five lakh to the Person with Disability Startup programme to support entrepreneurs’ businesses, making it the first startup incubation programme for PWDs in North East India, he said.
Azulay stressed on the importance having a 100% passion if one wants to really become an entrepreneur. He also mentioned that entrepreneurship is a lonely and hard journey, “but once you make it happen there’s no going back.”
He further motivated the entrepreneurs to not only cater to local or within the country, but to be visionaries and take their business to South East Asia and other parts of the world.
The event also saw two workshops conducted on various topics including the vital aspects of becoming a scalable and sustainable business and branding.
During the workshops, special guests Erik Azulay and Sinlo Kemp, creative director and brand designer, shared their insights on the importance of entrepreneurship and highlighted the various benefits and opportunities available for startups to thrive.
YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC) supports and nurture innovative entrepreneurs and startups in their pursuit towards scalable and sustainable businesses.
YIC, the first business incubator in the state under the Startup Nagaland Policy 2019, Department of Industries and Commerce, offers a practical and engaging programme to help entrepreneurs build business successfully, YouthNet stated.
Earlier, Director, YouthNet, Nuneseno Chase delivered the welcome address; Senior Project Associate, Veliitalii Puro pronounced invocation, and Lovitoli, founder of Lovi Twine, shared the ‘Entrepreneurs Experience.’
The programme was chaired by Manager, YouthNet Incubation Centre, Neikepekho Shosahie.
