Dimapur — Office of the chief medical officer (CMO) along with Kohima district health society under the department of Health and Family Welfare conducted a reproductive child health (RCH) camp in Zhadima village on March 24.
Speaking at a short function, the deputy CMO, Dr. Imchatoshi, called upon the public to avail all the services and also take part in various group discussions for a healthy life style and to practice better health seeking behaviour. He expressed expectation that the villagers would derive maximum profit from the health camp, an update from CMO office stated.
Dr. Imchatoshi also reminded the responsibilities of each and everyone in bringing about health awareness to uplift the health of the society in general and for contribution of the individual in particular. He mentioned about the target group where children and pregnant mothers are given priority.
Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, DIO (RCH/UIP), also reminded the village health committee (VHC) to take initiative on village health and nutrition day (VHND) programme and to channelised for visit of medical officer to the village round the clock.
He informed the gathering that IMR and MMR have been drastically reduced due to awareness. He also stated that health camps are the platform for people to avail the service provided by the department. He also spoke on the need for community participation for bringing about sustainable healthcare services through their participation.
He further thanked the Obs and Gynae, ENT specialist from NHAK, Indian Social Responsibility Network team (ISRN) and Social Welfare department for rendering their services and providing nutritional packages.
It stated that gifts and nutritional packages were distributed to fully immunised children and pregnant mothers.
Altogether, 210 residents availed various health services at the RCH camp.
Meanwhile, a focus group discussion (FGD) activity was carried out by Dr. Medozhatou Keretsü, MO (RBSK), targeting the lactacting mothers and children. They were informed about staying hygiene by washing hands with soap everyday and to let school going children have healthy life style.
