State-level women’s judo tournament held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung: A state-level judo tournament exclusively for women was hosted by the Nagaland Judo Association Mokokchung, where more than 50 participants partook at Multi-sports Complex, on Tuesday.

The tournament was organised by the Sports Authority of India and Judo Federation India, under Khelo India ‘10 Ka Dum’, on the theme ‘empowering women through sports’.

Dr. Sentitula, DFO Mokokchung, who was the chief guest, remarked that sports such as judo give power, courage and self confidence to women. In this regard, she challenged the participants to have the aspiration to empower oneself through this event.

Satemmongla, Chief Manager SBI Mokokchung, was the guest of honour in the closing function. She said judo was introduced in the second Nagaland Olympic 2022 and it has infinite potential internationally.

In this regard, she observed that Nagas are naturally gifted, “it is just that we do not see our own potential”.

“If you believe in yourself then success will surely be there for you,” she asserted.
