‘The Redeemer’ from Karbi Anglong wins NIT’s Rockville Battle
DIPHU: ‘The Redeemer,’ a Diphu-based progressive rock band from Karbi Anglong, won the Rockville Battle of the bands’ contest which was organised by the National Institute of Technology Nagaland on March 11.
The band was awarded with a cash prize of INR 40,000.
Formed on Oct. 1, 2022, the four-member band has participated and won several rock contests including the recently concluded 49th Karbi Youth Festival, National Rock Contest held at Diphu.
The band members are all college students studying in Diphu.
At the Rockville Battle, the band presented two originals and two covers.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror reporter, the vocalist Sarsonot Ronghang said, ‘as we have participated and represented Karbi Anglong, we are so blessed and grateful to each and everyone who has supported us as well by the grace of God we did it’.
Ronghang said that the band will be releasing their official song called ‘Love you till the end’ soon.
The vocalist advised the music lovers of upcoming generations from Northeast to support local musicians and ‘say no to drugs’.
As a student by profession, Ronghang said, ‘we keep studies our priority and we make and play music during our free time this is how we manage both studies and music.’
