15 houses gutted by fire at Sachü colony in Dimapur
Fifteen houses were completely gutted in a fire which broke out at Sachü colony in Dimapur at around 11 am on Thursday.
When contacted, sub-inspector of West Fire Station, Vikhoto Chuse, informed Eastern Mirror that as soon as they received a call about the fire incident at around 11 am, a quick response team (QRT) comprising of personnel and three fire tenders from West, Central and Chümoukedima fire stations, was pressed into action.
The fire was brought under control within 2 hours without much damage done to adjacent areas, Chuse said.
The Fire Service officer also informed that a total of 15 thatch houses belonging to 37 families were razed to the ground by the inferno and two gas cylinders also exploded. However, there was no report of any casualty.
The cause of the fire is awaited and the total estimate of losses yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
