Ph.D Forum, in collaboration with Research and Extension Cell (REC) NU: SASRD, conducted a two-day workshop on “Data science and analytics in agricultural research” on February 9 and 10.
An update from NU: SASRD stated that the inaugural session was attended by Prof. L Daiho, dean and chairperson of REC at NU: SASRD. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of data science in agricultural research and enlightened the gathering with his vast experience and knowledge regarding data analysis.
Two resource persons expertise in data analytics namely Shagolsem Herojit Singh, guest faculty of Agricultural Economics, and Limasunep Ozukum, Ph.D scholar of Agricultural Economics conducted the workshop.
The two-day workshop included orientation and introduction to statistics covering both experimental research and social research followed by hands-on training using excel and SPSS software beneficial in agricultural research.
The two-day programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pem Thinley, co-convenor of Ph.D Forum.
Altogether, 132 participants comprising of AICRP scientist, Ph.D scholars, M.Sc. and B.Sc. students participated in the programme. The participants were awarded certificate of participation by Saya D, general secretary of Ph.D Forum.
