Mahima Singh along with NPCC spokesperson, Yanger Lonkumer, and NPCC chairman of communications department, Wezote Kreo, during interaction with media person in Dimapur on Friday.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) media coordinator for Nagaland, Mahima Singh, on Friday said that Nagaland is the only state without a single medical college and she sympathised with the people of Nagaland stating that they have been deceived and their trust breached over and over again by the NDPP-BJP alliance government.

Interacting with media persons at Congress Bhavan in Dimapur, Singh alleged that the assets of NDPP have been held hostage by their main allied BJP from the centre.

Stating that the union ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Delhi has approved the Naga Hospital at Kohima to be upgraded as a medical college, Singh said that under phase-I, the centre sanctioned INR 189 crore on 90:10 ratio as centre-state share, while under phase-3, the Mon Medical College was approved at an amount of INR 325 crore on 90:10 ratio.

She informed that as on November 22, 2019, the centre has disbursed complete share of INR 171.10 crore to the state.

Singh also accused the government officials of lying to the state Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, regarding the Kohima Medical College by saying that it was delayed as the funds had not been released due to the pandemic, whereas in reality the complete amount was paid to the state as on November 22, 2019.

Singh also mentioned that for Mon Medical College, an amount of INR 242.5 crore of the centre’s total share of 292.5 crore has been received by the state government. She queried if the conscience of the UDA government is now absolutely dead as has not face any opposition in the assembly.

Singh has questioned the state health minister, S Pangnyu Phom, what has kept him from keeping their word to the people when they have received the entire sum from the centre for Kohima and about 90% for Mon.

Singh claimed that a ‘politics of ransom’ has been played upon the people of Nagaland and they were yet out to play again. She stated that NDPP has been held hostage by the BJP as the latter function with that sort of mindset.

While reminding the people that most of the government hospitals, schools, colleges and government infrastructures were laid by Congress party, Singh stated that the party would rekindle hope in the hearts of the people in Nagaland.

Singh further assured to free Nagaland from the shackles of politics of malice, politics of sloganeering, politic of skullduggery, politic of denigration and most importantly politics of holding the chief minister hostage by the BJP to mislead the people of Nagaland if the people give their mandate to Congress party.
