The department of Power has initiated ‘Electrical Safety Week’ from February 6 to the 11th on the theme “Safety by choice not by chance.” An update from the department informed that the ‘Electricity Safety Week’ is being observed mandatorily across the state for the safety and security of line personnel and public at large.
In commemoration of safety week, Dimapur electrical division distributed pamphlets carrying messages on causes of electrical shocks, IE act for mandatory clearance between live conductor from building and ground, Do’s & Don’ts with electrical appliances to every consumer in all revenue cash counters.
An official programme was held in the division wherein the importance to follow standard operating procedure (SOP) was explained to all operation and maintenance staff of the division. SOP booklets were also distributed to every staff. Live demonstration on how to fix and utilise electrical safety gears was also conducted.
Besides, instruction/ checklist for giving shutdown and recharging lines were installed in control rooms of all 66/33 kV and 33/11 kV sub-stations and fuse call rooms.
A team of officers also visited every control rooms and distributed standard operating procedure (SOP) booklet to all the staff.
The department has appealed to every responsible citizen and working staff of Dimapur district to follow the laid down rules to avoid unwanted electrical accidents.
