Manipur CM inspects preparation works for upcoming G-20 summit
N Biren Singh accompanied by others inspects activities at Ethnic Park near Keibul Lamjao national park for upcoming G20 summit on Wednesday.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh accompanied by ministers, MLA and officials on Wednesday visited the Ethnic Park which is popularly known as Sangai Ethnic Park and inspected the ongoing preparation works for the G-20 summit scheduled to be held from Feb. 17 and the 18th.

Confirming this by sharing some photographs of the visit in a tweet, Biren Singh tweeted: “Visited the Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, Bishnupur district. Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming G20 events in Manipur. The Sangai Ethnic Park symbolises peaceful coexistence among different communities in the state and stands as an ideal spot for the event.”

While sharing a photograph in which Chief Minister himself aimed at the picturesque Loktak Lake with a camera in another tweet, he wrote: “On a visit to take stock of the preparations for G-20 events at Moirang, Bishnupur district, I’m fortunate to catch a glimpse of some migratory birds at Loktak lake today.” “Also had a view of the one and only Loktak Lake,”.

Biren Singh led team also inspected the Loktak Inland Water Transport Complex at Sendra during the day’s inspection.

The state’s Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar, Chairman (Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd) Tongbram Robindro, MLA Thongam Shanti (Moirang), Chairman (Loktak Development Authority) M Asnikumar, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Managing Director (Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited) Christopher Doungel, Additional Chief Secretary V Vumlunmang and other senior government officials were also present during the visit.

According to an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur district on Tuesday, the state government has declared ‘No flying zone’ in the areas within 1km radius of few tourist destinations including Loktak, the largest freshwater Lake in Northeast located in Bishnupur district in connection with the visit of the G-20 summit delegates.

The areas under ‘No flying zone’ include within 1 Km radius of Ethnic Park, Moirangkhunou, Loktak Lake, Sendra, INA Head Quarter and INA complex, Moirang and a distance of 1 km on both sides of the routes leading to the aforesaid locations of Bishnupur District.
