La Ganesan visits Kamjong district; interacts with several organisations, elders
Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Wednesday visited Kasom Khullen Sub-Divisional headquarters in Kamjong district and interacted with District Level Officers (DLOs), Representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), village chiefs and villagers.
The governor heard the issues and grievances raised during the meeting and assured all possible help in the larger interest of the people. He inspected Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School and interacted with students and teachers.
Speaking at the interaction programme, he said that the issues related to education, healthcare, connectivity, power etc., should be taken care of while assuring that he will look into it.
He stated that the number of drug users particularly among the youths is increasing manifold during the last few months. This has to be, in any case, prevented with collective efforts including the like-minded CSO and general public.
The Governor also appealed to co-operate the government in this regard saying that the state government has already mooted taking action against the cultivation of poppy plants particularly in the hill districts. Large areas of poppy cultivation were destroyed and the movement is on.
Concerned over the issues of illegal migration, smuggling of drugs, weapons, sneaking insurgents etc. from neighbouring countries, the Governor said, these activities should be prevented at any cost.
On issues related to education, healthcare, connectivity, power etc, he said he will look into it.
On Covid vaccination, the Governor said that vaccination is the first priority to prevent the pandemic. He appealed to the villagers to get vaccinated at least twice at the earliest.
In the day’s function, Governor felicitated Solimla Jajo of Kasom Khullen, the silver medallist at the recently concluded 54th Asian Bodybuilding Sports Championship in Maldives.
Local MLA K Leishiyo Keishing who represents Phungyar constituency said, although the district shares an international boundary with Myanmar, no business activities or transactions can be taken up as there are no facilities in the district.
Making a powerpoint presentation on various development activities in the district, Deputy Commissioner (Kamjong)R Rang Peter said there has been acute shortage of manpower in many sectors including education and healthcare.
