Aku Zeliang wins ‘Young Talent’ international design award
Aku Zeliang from Nagaland, who is representing India at the annual Ambiente Fair at Frankfurt, Germany, won the “Young Talent” award 2022 for Elle Deco International Design Awards (EDIDA).
He has also won the runner- up award for “Furniture Designer of the Year”.
Zeliang is representing Nagaland in the “Young Talents” section of the annual fair, being held from February 3 to the 7th.
It may be mentioned that Ambiente is the leading international trade fair and the world’s number one in products associated with dining, cooking, household items, furnishings and ornaments, interior design, gifts, jewellery and fashion accessories, an update stated.
Zeliang’s interior and architecture design studio “Urra Design” works across seven states in India and furniture line “Cane Concept” exports to 26 countries.
He is currently showcasing the Huh Tu (Tattoo) collection inspired by eastern Nagaland, which consists of textile, furniture and wall decor objects designed with skills and resources available in the region and house-handcrafted at his design centre in Dimapur.
The Huh Tu collection will be displayed at the India Design Fair hosted by Elle Decor in Delhi from February 23 to the 26th.
