NPP announces first list of candidates for Nagaland poll
National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland on Saturday distributed party tickets to 12 candidates in the first phase for the upcoming state Assembly election.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s office in Dimapur, Nagaland state NPP president Andrew Ahoto, informed that it will give tickets to about 20 candidates, and the second list will be declared soon.
He said setting up of candidates for the second list will go on till the last date (February 7), and that the party is not focusing on any particular constituency. He added that the party manifesto and song have been released.
National General Secretary NPP, Rameshwar Singh, stated that they were here to serve the people of Nagaland.
He said that their main purpose is to build a new Nagaland where the basic facilities reach the doorstep of the common people. He added that they want to increase the status of the Naga people through proper education system and livelihood projects, which will increase the per capita income.
Election manifesto
The party also released a 20-point election manifesto for the Nagaland election, which include: Allegiance to secularism, socialism and democratic ideals; support Naga political solution; total repeal of the AFSPA from the Northeast; adequate representation of the Nagas in the Indian Parliament; equitable and focal attention towards development of eastern Nagaland and other lesser developed regions of the state; development of roads and better connectivity; women and youth empowerment; industrial growth; setting up of modern medical facilities; and to make Nagaland an educational hub, among others.
