As per the guidelines and advisory received from the Nagaland Chief Election Officer, Nagaland Police has issued instructions for setting up of temporary camping offices by political parties and candidates.

The order stated that no such office would be opened by way of any encroachment either of public or private property and no such office would be opened in any religious place or campus of such religious place.

It also stated that no such office would be opened contiguous to any education institution/ hospital and no office would be opened within 200 metre of an existing polling station.

It informed that only one party flag and banner with party symbol/ photograph could be displayed at such office. The size of banner used in such office would not exceed 4 feet x 8 feet, subject to the further condition that if the local laws prescribed a smaller size for banner/ hoarding etc., then the size prescribed by local law should prevail.

It informed that written permission should necessarily be taken from the respective district election officer/ returning officer, who would consult the concerned superintendent of police/ local police while granting the permit.

It also informed that the expenditure observers should be informed of all such office so that he could closely monitor to ensure that expenditure on such office is properly booked in the account of candidate. It added that the local police should be informed of all such office to ensure that no laws and order situation is created in such office/ camp.

It cautioned that any violation of the above would amount to violation under model code of conduct. It, therefore, urged upon all the concerned including political parties and intending candidates to take note of the above instructions and comply.

This was stated in a press release issued by the superintendent of police (SCRB) and PRO of PHQ.
