16% of cancer patients in Manipur are breast cancer, says Dr. Ranjan Singh

Imphal, Jan. 10 (EMN): Manipur’s Health & Information Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh informed that 16% of cancer patients among the women in the state are found to be breast cancer.
The number of breast cancer patients is more than the cervical cancer patients and that this ailment is common to the young women.
Dr. S Ranjan was speaking at the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness & Workshop of Breast Cancer in Imphal on TUesday.
“To control this, we need to put effort with a commitment besides providing proper training of the medical professionals, health staffs and field workers to take care of the present scenario in the state,” he said.
A team work is very necessary for smooth and effective functioning of a department, he added.
Stating that the state government has also been working relentlessly to improve the health care system of the state, he said ‘Chief Minister’s Health for All’, has been launched to bring a change to the health care system of the state adding that the health department has also started screening of non-communicable diseases in the state.
He appealed to all the concerned health staffs to be sincere and dedicated to their service so that the objective of overall improvement in the health sector can be achieved. He also informed that organising such workshop will help create awareness amongst the public.
Director Dr. Kh Sasheekumar Mangang of state health services, Director Dr Somorjit Ningombam of National Health Mission Manipur, Additional Director Dr Y Gopalkrishna of Public Health were also present during the observation wherein Minister also distributed appreciation letters to the outstanding performers of different categories.
The day’s programme was jointly organised by National Program for Prevention and Control of Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Control And Stroke under National Health Mission & the Directorate of Health Services, government of Manipur.
