Manipur Governor interacts with people in Kumbi

Imphal, Jan. 5 (EMN): Manipur Governor, La Ganesan, visited Kumbi under Moirang sub-sivision of Bishnupur district and interacted with MLAs, district level officers, representatives of civil society organisations, and local clubs on Thursday.

Ganesan enquired about various developmental works taking up in the district particularly in Kumbi assembly constituency and also heard about the grievances and problems raised by the people there. While assuring all possible help, the Governor has affirmed to ask the concerned authorities including the chief minister to take steps at the earliest.

During the interaction, the Governor informed that his objective was to interact with people of different communities in the state to know their culture, tradition and way of life. Asserting that most of the issues raised by the people were genuine, he felt that the issues would be addressed in a time bound manner.

According to him, issues pertaining to connectivity, healthcare, education, irrigation etc. were the basic need which has to be addressed as soon as possible. He has asked the concerned officials to take appropriate steps for the welfare of the people.

He also appealed to conduct survey in Bishnupur district to find out TB patients and report to the concerned department so as to enable them to carry out remedial measures. Expressing concern over the increasing number of drug user among the youth in the state, the Governor felt that the issue should be address on priority with collective efforts. He added that the state government has already committed to make the state drug-free.

He also informed that the G-20 meeting would be held in Bishnupur district. He added that Bishnupur district particularly the Loktak Lake would be one of the most popular tourist hubs of the state after a few years. In this regard, he has sought unstinted support from the public.

MLAs including S Premchandra Singh from Kumbi, I Nalini from Oinam, T Robindro from Thanga, M Asnikumar, chairman of Loktak development authority, and former MLA S Bira attended the interaction programme.

The DC of Bishnupur, L Bikram; SP of Bishnupur, N Herojit; district level officers, students and people from adjoining areas of Kumbi also attended the programme.
