Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) leaders are said to be in Guwahati, Assam, to meet the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) committee to pursue its demand for “Frontier Nagaland”.

The meeting is likely to be held today, January 5, according to sources.

The MHA team had earlier convened a meeting with the ENPO, Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO), Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF and apex tribal bodies from the eastern region from December16 to the 18th in 2022 at Tuensang in connection with the statehood demand.

The ENPO and the talk team had remained tight-lipped about the outcome of the previous meeting but it was said to be “positive” Sources also informed this newspaper that the meeting was held to understand the ground situation, collect data and reports; and they were ready to address the issue.

Meanwhile, calls made to the leaders of ENPO and talk team to seek details about the Thursday’s meeting went unanswered.

It may be mentioned that the ENPO has reaffirmed its stand not participate in any electoral process of the Centre or the state till their demand for a separate state is granted. The organisation also stated that it won’t accept any economic package.

This comes even as the election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly is expected to be held next month.
