Xiaomi unveils new Redmi K60 Pro, Redmi K60 and Redmi K60E smartphones
Xiaomi‘s Redmi brand held a big event on Tuesday, launching six new products. The highlight of the event was the launch of the new Redmi K60 lineup of android smartphones: The flagship Redmi K60 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the vanilla Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and the cheaper Redmi K60E powered by the new Dimensity 8200 chipset.
The Redmi K60 Pro is a high-end smartphone with a 6.67″ AMOLED display with 2K resolution and supports 120Hz high refresh rate. It boasts a 50 MP main camera with a Sony IMX800 sensor, OIS, and EIS, as well as an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP macro sensor. The Redmi K60 Pro is powered by Xiaomi’s Surge P1 charging chip and a 5,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. It is available in four colours: Green, White, Black, and Champion Performance Edition. Pricing for the phone starts at CNY 3,299 ($475/€455) for the 8/128 GB version.
The Redmi K60 shares similarities with its Pro sibling including a 6.67″ AMOLED display with 1440p resolution and a triple-camera setup. It also comes with the same 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro cameras but it has a 64MP shooter with OIS as its main sensor. It also features a massive 5,500 mAh battery that supports 30W wireless charging and 67W fast charging. The Redmi K60 is available in four colours: White, Green, Blue Leather, and Black with Carbon details on the sides. Pricing starts at CNY 2,499 ($360/€335) for the 8/128 GB version.
The cheaper Redmi K60E also shares some similarities spec-wise with the other two phones in the K60 lineup including a 6.67” AMOLED display with support for 120Hz high refresh rate and 1440p resolution. It has a brightness of 1,200 nits and is well protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
However, unlike the other two phones, the Redmi K60E has a different camera setup. The main camera on the back of the device is a 48MP sensor with OIS which is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor.
Other key differences include the lack of support for wireless charging, slower storage standard and slower RAM. For instance, the Redmi K60E has a large 5,500 mAh battery like the Redmi K60 and supports 67W fast charging, but it does not support wireless charging at all. The next key difference is the storage standard, which is UFS 3.1 instead of the faster UFS 4.0 standard. The Redmi K60E also features slower LPPDR5 RAM as compared to the other two phones that feature the faster LPDDR5X RAM.
The Redmi K60E will be available in only three colours which include White, Black, and Green. Pricing for the Redmi K60E starts at CNY 2,199 ($315/€295) for the 8/128 GB variant.
