Dimapur, Dec. 22 (EMN): With an objective to impart various training programmes in the field of IECT and emerging technologies, Delhi Public School (DPS), Dimapur, on December 20 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under the ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, government of India.

The MoU was signed by BK Nanda, principal of DPS Dimapur and L Lanuwabang, director of NIELIT, in the presence of Dr. Aotoshi, pro-vice chairman of DPS, Dimapur, and Daniel Meren, additional director of NIELIT, Kohima.

Addressing the teachers and students of DPS and officials of NIELIT, BK Nanda has suggested enrolment with NIELIT in various courses. He expressed hope that the MoU would provide different avenues for the students and that NIELIT Kohima should also extend the support in up-skilling the teachers of the school.

Highlighting on the provisions of the MoU, L Lanuwabang informed that NIELIT Kohima would take initiatives like organising lectures, FDP, invited talks, workshops on the latest fields and technologies such as AI, 3D printing, block chain and IoT. He reiterated that the MoU envisioned students of DPS to undertake O level NSQF level 5, computer application associate, NSQF level 4 and course on computer concepts, NSQF level 3 courses so that students would not only be digitally sound but make a career out of it.

It mentioned that NIELIT was recognised as a Deemed University. In Nagaland, it has its centres in Kohima, Dimapur and Chuchuyimlang.

A presentation on “Awareness on cyber security and emerging technologies” was delivered by Moasunep, senior technical officer of NIELIT Kohima. He spoke on information and resources related with future and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, block chain, internet of things, 3D modeling and printing, big data analytics, and robotic process automation.

The additional director of NIELIT, Daniel Meren, made a presentation on various course details that could be offered in schools, which are compatible with new education policy and are being implemented by CBSE.
