Founding president of KSA laid to rest

Diphu, Dec. 5 (EMN): Pratap Chandra Tokbi, the founding president of the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), was laid to rest at Rongkimi Presbyterian Church cemetery here on Monday.
The funeral service was chaired by the executive secretary of Karbi Anglong Presbyterian Church Synod (KAPCS), Rev. Albert Teron and the Bible message was delivered by Senior Executive Secretary, KAPCS, Rev. Premingson Millick. Church Elder, Longki Bey, read out the life history of late Tokbi.
President, KSA, Thangsing Timung delivered a condolence message on behalf of the KSA and one-minute silence was observed. Condolence messages were also given by Greater Guwahati KSA and Shillong KSA.
After the funeral service, the mortal remains were taken from his residence to Diphu Govt. College -Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso and on returning stopped at KSA office Rongthe-ang, where the KSA members paid their last respect to their former leader.
It also stopped at KSA office, Lumding road, and proceeded to Rongkimi Presbyterian Church cemetery, where he was laid to rest.
Meanwhile, as a mark of respect, shopkeepers and business establishments of Diphu town market closed down their shops for 4 hours from 9 am -12 noon.
The funeral procession was joined by KSA members and leaders of various social bodies, senior citizens, intellectuals and well-wishers.
