Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): The Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses’ (DRAN) 2021 sit-in demanding the state government to “honour” the cabinet memorandum and the advertisement published two years ago entered day-four outside the Secretariat in Kohima on Sunday.

DRAN 2021 observed a day of fasting and prayer “to give them strength to carry forward their demand”, an update said.

It may be mentioned that DRAN has been staging a sit-in outside the Secretariat since November 9.

DRAN 2021 reiterated that there was “nothing special” about the department’s notification regarding the “special recruitment drive” to be conducted by the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) or Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB). It asked how they could compete for the same posts once again with the “same nurses who failed to qualify in the earlier open interview”.

DRAN had also held two meetings with the department officials but they were inconclusive and no concrete decisions could be taken, it said.
The statement further stated that DRAN 2021 would continue with their second phase of agitation.

Neinu urges department to address DRAN’s grievances

Meanwhile, leader of the NPF legislature party, Kuzholuzo Neinu, urged the concerned department to be “serious enough” in addressing DRAN’s demand and “work out the best possible solution at the earliest”.

“How can we allow the public health workers to go on streets without attending their duties and let public suffer? Every problem has its solution,” he said, in a press communiqué on Sunday.

He also asked the department to relook into the July 5, 2020 memorandum and the advertisement published on July 16, 2020 to regularise their services.

‘If the department deems fits in their appointment during 2020 then it should not hesitate in regularising their services, but going for another exam for them is not at all practical,’ he said.

He further requested the chief minister and the concerned minister to arrive at an amicable solution and ensure justice is delivered; and even releases their pending salaries, it added.
