Churches in Nagaland observe World Sunday School Day

Kohima/ Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Various churches in Nagaland including Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) in Kohima and at Nepali Baptist Church (NBC) in Chümoukedima town celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 6.

At Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, World Sunday School Day was celebrated with Adino Zhotso, lecturer at Shalom Bible Seminary, Kohima, as the speaker. Impressed with the performances presented by the Sunday School students, she remarked that they have potentials to be “great ambassadors of God’s Kingdom.”

Making references from Ephesians 6:10-20, she dwelled on the armours of God which included belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and sword of the spirit.

In order to fight with the enemy devil, Zhotso emphasised on the need to be prepared fully with the spiritual armour and to protect one’s heart with godly behaviour.

She also stressed on the importance of equipping oneself with the Gospel to reach out to the unreached while being armed with the shield of faith.

She also urged the parents to play proactive role and be responsible to give time to their children. She further called upon the parents to remind their children about God’s love so that they might lead an example life.

The programme was marked by Bible reading from the Beginner and song performances presented by Little Lambs as well as Beginner, Primary and Junior.

“On the occasion, Tepusaho Tase, Pastor’s Mentor of MHBC invoked God’s blessings upon the children”. Gifts were presented to the children and a talent night was held in the evening.

In a related programme, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 6 with Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, KBC senior pastor, as the speaker on the theme “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”

An update from the church stated that special performances were presented by Sunday school teachers, intermediate, junior and beginner classes on the occasion. It also informed that Belinda Kiewhuo, superintendent of KBC Sunday School, presented report and gave away awards to regular students and faithful tithe givers.

The programme was led Neibalie Kiewhuo, pastor of KBC.

Meanwhile at Koinonia Prayer Centre (KPC), Akho Hibo, KBC evangelist, was the speaker and Neilhou Sopfünuo, KBC evangelist, led the service. Special presentations were performed by the Sunday school students.

Meanwhile, Nepali Baptist Church (NBC) in Chümoukedima town also celebrated World Sunday School Day on the theme “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deut. 6:5).

Beena Thapa, women secretary of Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN), was the speaker of the programme. She encouraged the Sunday school students to “be more vigil in their life Journey, be determined and put God first in whatever they do.”

Various items like recitation of Bible verses, singing, dancing etc. were the highlights of the programme.

The Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill (CBCMH) in Kohima also celebrated World Sunday School Day-cum-graduation day for Knight Templars batch of 2022 in the church on Sunday.

A total of 64 Sunday school children graduated to the youth department on the occasion.

Addressing the graduating children, CBCMHK associate pastor, Thujoneyi Veswüh, spoke on ‘Reflecting the beauty of Jesus Christ’ as young people, wherein he stated that the society was in need of men and women who would are bold to say that he/she is not shame of following Christ and someone who is willing to live in integrity and holiness.

He lamented on the vanishing culture of conversing with one another in ‘golden’ words, while on the other hand, young people prefer speaking in ‘slang’ words. He stated that as Christians, young people should reflect the beauty of Christ in faith, love, speech, and action.

He also advised graduating students to live in purity saying that purity in body, mind, and heart is important. He added that one can live a life of purity only when they have the word of God.

Knight Templars teacher, Akhale Khamo, who is also a former director of Tourism department, informed that initially more than 200 students have registered for batch 2022. But the number of students was reduced to around 80 as some have migrated to other places.
