Kohima, Oct. 18 (EMN): A total of 27 teams from 26 churches comprising only men’s department/ father’s fellowship are vying for the Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) football jubilee trophy 2022, which got underway on Thursday.
The inaugural function of the trophy, organised by KBC in commemoration of its silver jubilee celebration with the theme ‘Press towards the goal,’ was held at Meriema ground in Kohima.
Executive Secretary of Pesocha Baptist Church Council (PBCC), Medoneiu Usou, who graced the inaugural function as trophy guest, appreciated the organisers for bringing together people from various churches for sports and fellowship.
He made a comparison between sports and faith and exhorted the participants to be diligent in their faith and be good stewards like a player on the ground.
Further Usou also asked the players to exhibit good sportsmanship.
Earlier, Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, founder pastor of KBC, in his keynote address told the players to exhibit true sportsmanship, physically and spiritually.
Convenor of the organising committee, Neizokhotuo Belho, delivered the welcome address and Rokopra Mekro administered the oath to the teams.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Christ King Church (CKC) beat Touphema BC 8-0. Interestingly, 62-year-old Dierhevituo Benedict scored a goal for CKC.

2nd match – Botsa BC vs Chüziema BC (2 pm)
