Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Longleng, held a dedication programme to mark the launch of a new ambulance for PHC Yongnyah on October 9. The new ambulance was provided by the department of Health and Family Welfare.

An update from the CMO’s office informed that the programme was attended by the medical officer of PHC Yongnyah and other medical staff, HCMC chairman and committee members, council members of Yongnyah, Shamshang and Chingong villages, pastors of YVBC and YTBC, GBs and DBs of Yongnyah area, student leaders and other dignitaries of the area.

The programme began with an invocation prayer said by the pastor of YTBC, while the ambulance dedication prayer was said by the pastor of YVBC. Short speeches were delivered by head GB of Yongnyah village, HCMC chairman and medical officer of PHC Yongnyah.

Speaking on the occasion, the medical officer has expressed gratitude to the Health minister, S Pangnyu Phom, and MLA of 49 Tamlu AC, BS Nganlang, for introducing a new ambulance for the public.

He also thanked the public leaders, student bodies, church leaders and members, well-wishers for their constant support and prayers towards achieving the facility.

The doctor also highlighted the gathering on how to make use of the ambulance service and the need of community participation for optimal functioning of the hospital and satisfactory delivery of healthcare services. He, however, lamented on the lack of proper ambulance driver, which according to him, a big hurdle in delivering adequate ambulance service.

The head GB and village chairman have lauded the department for delivering new ambulance service. They expressed belief that the new facility would mitigate the hardship of transporting the seriously sick and emergency patients from Yongnyah block area.
