Walkathon for Frontier Nagaland: ENSF seeks public support
Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) has called for public support and participation in the first phase of agitation for the Frontier Nagaland statehood demand called by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO).
The agitation, which will be in the form of a walkathon, will be held at all the administrative and tribal headquarters in eastern Nagaland, and is slated to commence on October 7.
This resolution was adopted during the ENSF emergency federal assembly on September 20 at Anatonger in Shamator district.
ENSF has urged the people from all walks of life to be prepared for any ‘groundbreaking initiative’ to be initiated in the event of ‘tepid response’ and further implored the people who are residing outside the ambit of eastern Nagaland to extend consistent prayer and support in any manner possible in the pursuit of its demand.
It said that the nature and background of Frontier Nagaland and history of the region in a nutshell would also be expounded in various tribal vernacular languages.
Businesses, both offices and commercial, would be restricted during the programme hours, it said, while district administration, police, para military, medical, fire and emergency services have been exempted from closure.
The seven federation units of ENSF — CWS, YAA, KSU (Khiamniungan), KSU (Konyak), USSC, PSC and TSU — will be responsible for implementing all the arrangements for the agitation, it added.
